When you first learnt to drive you were being taught to pass the driving test. Now you have the opportunity to continue to develop your driving skills by taking the Advanced Driving Test.
That’s where the IAM “Skill for Life” package comes in.
It’s a course of observed drives, all carried out locally by our fully trained Observers, based on the principles of Advanced Driving as used by the Police, it teaches drivers the skills required to better adapt themselves for changing situations. Advanced Driving is based on learning a series of techniques and skills combined with improving driver awareness of their car, the road and the driving environment.

The Advanced Driving Test lasts for about 90 minutes and usually covers between 30 to 40 miles along a variety of road types - including city and country driving, dual carriageways and motorways.
